How to prevent ATEX explosion proof cameras in thunderstorm weather

The installation positions of front-end cameras are often divided into indoor and outdoor. Cameras installed indoors are generally not subject to direct lightning strikes. However, lightning overvoltage may also cause damage to the cameras, and outdoor ATEX explosion proof cameras needs to be considered to prevent direct lightning strikes.

Usually, the front-end equipment such as ATEX explosion proof camera is placed within the effective protection area of the air-termination device (lightning rod or other air-termination conductor). When the ATEX explosion proof camera is erected independently, in order to prevent the transient high potential of the lightning rod and the down-conductor, the lightning rod should preferably be 3-4 meters away from the ATEX explosion proof camera.

In addition, in order to prevent electromagnetic induction, the ATEX explosion proof camera power line and signal line drawn along the utility pole should be passed through the metal tube to achieve shielding effect, and both ends of the shielded metal tube should be grounded.

The cable lightning-induced electromotive force is a high-frequency alternating voltage, and its position is equivalent to the middle of the cable. According to this feature, the basic method of inductive lightning protection is to set up a "voltage limiting protection circuit" for the input and output ports of the equipment.

Lightning protection of video surveillance center

In the video surveillance system, the video surveillance center is often the place where the video surveillance video is processed, so its lightning protection is also very important. To put it simply, the lightning protection of the video surveillance center should be from direct lightning protection, lightning wave intrusion protection, and "voltage limiting protection circuit" for the input and output ports of the equipment.

In terms of direct lightning protection, the building where the video surveillance center is located should have lightning rods, lightning strips or lightning protection nets for direct lightning protection. When the overhead cable is directly introduced, a lightning arrester should be installed at the entrance, and a "voltage limiting protection circuit" should be set up.
